There was once a time when being a transgender was heavily frowned upon and criticised by a lot of people around the world but, while there is still a lot of negativity faced by those who are going through the whole transgender experience, it does feel like times are changing and the tide is beginning to turn in their favour.

One of the ways of getting people to understand what it means to be transgender and to change the public opinion of the transgender community, is for more people to come out and share their story with the world. That is exactly what transgender model Andreja Pejic has been doing, hoping that it can have a positive impact and influence on people.
Andreja explained, "I do think with Transgender people, we can change public opinion. I do believe in people and I feel, I do believe they can overcome their prejudices. However, you know, the problem is bigger than just acceptance. The problem is a lack of jobs in the transgender community."

Pejic added, "I don’t know about the LGBT community, especially with homelessness, access to medical care, education. But you know, as I said, I think these things are declining for the majority of the population. So, that’s where I think people do need to unite and we need a mass movement."
For those of you who are not familiar with Andreja Pejic or the work she has been doing, her official Wikipedia page explains that she, "is an Australian model. Pejić is a transgender woman, who until 2014 was billed as an androgynous male model, self-described as living 'in between genders'."
We have to admit that we do not know a great deal about transgender but, from reading about Andreja Pejic and what she is trying to achieve, we are definitely beginning to learn more and understand much better. Keep up the good work Andreja!
