There was once a time when the Spice Girls were the biggest girl group on the face of the Earth and their music and their legacy will live on forever. With the world celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of their debut single Wannabe, Victoria Beckham has been reminiscing about her time in the Spice Girls, admitting that she was always the sensible one of the group.
Beckham explained, "When all the other girls were being fun and spontaneous and jumping on tables, I was always the one checking the table wasn’t going to collapse. I was always the sensible one. Luckily because I used to wear heels, I just used to jig about a bit and I got away with it but it never came easily. I was always much more reserved than the other girls."
Since the Spice Girls split up, Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Emma Bunton, and Mel C have all gone on to have number one singles in the UK, with Victoria Beckham being the only one to miss out on that achievement. However, Victoria has gone on to become one of the biggest and best names in the fashion industry, which is something that she has always been very passionate about.
Beckham added, "I was always the one that loved fashion and it was quite a result for me because the girls always used to get their clothes for free because they were crap and so there was a lot of budget for me to have my little Gucci dress."
The 20th Anniversary of Wannabe has led to many people to suggest that we are going to see a Spice Girls reunion taking place but, with Victoria Beckham and Mel C sounding less than interested in the idea, it looks unlikely that it will actually happen.
