Taylor Swift is often scrutinized in the media for her relationship and boy drama, which is also often tied together into her musical career. She covers the most recent issue of Elle Magazine and opens up about the public obsession with her love life, and how it’s very different from what people think it is.

She says, “I’m sure if I looked up the latest Google Alerts rumor it would say I’m chasing somebody who doesn’t like me as much as I like him – people love that angle on me. They’re like ‘Oh Taylor, coming on too strong again, chasing boys.’ I never chase boys. They don’t like it! To me it’s just writing songs the way I always have. It’s me sitting on my bed feeling pain I didn’t understand, writing a song, and understanding it better.”
Well, at least she understands that most of the attention on her romantic life derives from the fact that it’s so intricately tied into her songs. No doubt, if she didn’t sing about her latest boyfriends and why they broke up, there would be much less public attention. Then again, she’s a celebrity – and it’s inevitable.

Taylor’s most recent break-up and undoubtedly the one that’s managed to get her at the top of those Google alerts was her brief relationship with One Direction member Harry Styles. Although there has been a barrage of recent reports about why they broke up, Taylor made headlines when she supposedly imitated Harry’s British accent during one her song ‘We are never ever getting back together’. It’s mainly stunts like these, in addition to the unavoidable nature of her fame, that keep her romantic life at the top of ‘google alerts’.
