There are a lot of bands around these days who manage to make a hit record or two and suddenly forget who they used to be, instead taking themselves way too seriously and losing what made them so great in the first place. That is certainly the way that KISS bassist Gene Simmons feels, as he has decided to have a bit of a rant about the "credible bands".
KISS are preparing to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which has given Gene Simmons the perfect opportunity to have his rant about these "credible bands". Gene stated that he is annoyed by these bands who take themselves too seriously and feels that they could all learn a lot from the behaviour of the rock and roll bands of old.
Simmons told Rolling Stone, "All the credible bands can kiss my ass, with all due respect. The original forefathers who are now in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - and I don't mean the disco or the hip-hop artists, what the fuck are they thinking? - couldn't spell the word 'credibility' and never thought about it. It was an antithesis of the self-imposed mandate, which is, 'Do what you want to do.' In other words, no rules."
Gene Simmons, along with the rest of his KISS bandmates, Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, will enjoy being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next month and Gene has insisted that the honour is all for the fans, especially those who have been picked on for being KISS fans in the past.
