When it was confirmed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe was going to add more female superheroes to their comic book movies, fans around the world began to give their views on which character should appear. Then, it was confirmed that Scarlet Witch would join the MCU and that Elizabeth Olsen had been cast in the role, which led to a lot of excitement among the fans.
One of the things that most of these fans were excited about, was getting to see Elizabeth Olsen in that skimpy Scarlet Witch costume from the comic books. Unfortunately though, Marvel decided to tone down the costume in a big way, much to the disappointment of many of the fans, and Elizabeth has now revealed that the plan was always to veer away from the original skimpy outfit.
Olsen explained, "About the same meeting Joss Whedon even mentioned who we were meeting about, he said, ‘There’s this character Scarlet Witch that I’m interested in for you to play,’ and then he said, ‘When you go home and Google her, just know you will never ever have to wear what she wears in the comics.' Because I did ballet growing up, but that’s not a confident look."
While Elizabeth Olsen can currently be seen playing Scarlet Witch in Captain America: Civil War, she is also signed on to appear in future Marvel movies, including both of the Avengers: Infinity War films. Meanwhile, there has been talk of one of the current crop of Marvel heroes getting a standalone film, with Scarlet Witch being among the favourites.
